2024 Mustang clocks 486 hp; Dark Horse to hit 500 hp

Equipped with a specially modified 5.0-liter V-8 engine – the most powerful 5.0-liter V-8 ever in a non-Shelby Mustang, projected to deliver 500 hp – the Dark Horse expands the Mustang lineup. Ford says it will set a new benchmark for American street and track performance. (FORD)

DETROIT — Ford Motor Co. on Thursday said the 2024 Mustang, due out next year, will generate up to 486 horsepower and 418 pound-feet of torque from what it's calling its best 5.0-litre Coyote V-8 engine to date.
