Cox Automotive predicts a 2.8% year-over-year increase in wholesale vehicle prices in 2025. Black Book projects a 5% increase in the average transaction price this year. Morgan Stanley predicts the tariffs boost prices 11-12%.

Literally overnight, the central components of the vehicle imported from overseas will be subjected to significant tariffs that will change the American automotive industry. Stellantis is pausing production at some plants in Canada and Mexico as it adapts to the tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump, North America COO Antonio Filosa said in an April 3 email to employees.

Kia aims to sell more electric vehicles in Europe as President Donald Trump’s auto tariffs and anti-EV policies cloud the outlook in the U.S. The South Korean automaker plans to increase sales of EVs in the European Union to more than 60 percent of the region’s total by 2030, which is higher than the industry outlook of 54 percent, CEO Ho Sung Song said in an interview at the Seoul auto show on April 3. The European Commission last month proposed giving automakers more time to reach stricter emissions rules after pressure from automakers including Volkswagen Group and Stellantis, and bring forward its review of a 2035 zero-emission target.
