President Donald Trump implemented a 25 percent tariff on vehicles built outside the U.S. starting April 3, with some auto parts such as engines, transmissions, and powertrain and electrical components also subject to a tariff no later than May 3. On April 2, he announced reciprocal tariffs of at least 10 percent on U.S. trading partners, but autos are not part of that plan.
